Background

Hi! My name is Shannon. I am originally from South Florida but now happily call San Diego home with my partner of 10 years, Sebastian, and our two cats, Hendrix and Milo. A bilingual (English/Spanish) Advice-Only CFP® practitioner and advocate for accessible financial planning, I provide meaningful financial planning services in a safe and inclusive space. I believe that everyone deserves competent financial planning advice and a real chance at upward mobility.

I am passionate about sharing my expert financial knowledge in order to help others feel better about their finances, reach financial freedom, and truly live life on their terms. I have worked with hundreds of diverse clients across the country, from tech employees seeking help with their equity compensation and early savers wanting to reach FIRE, to six-figure earners living paycheck-to-paycheck and in need of financial behavior change support, to high earners who simply want to feel better about their financial decisions. I work with financial planning clients in San Diego as well as nationwide via virtual meeting platforms.

My "Why"

I founded Sage Financial Planning LLC with the mission to help younger professionals, especially First Generation Wealth Builders, better understand and optimize their finances. Raised low-income and tired of constant financial stressors, I just didn't want to have to worry so much about money anymore. This led me to make a series of tactical financial decisions early on, eventually joining the Financial Independence (FI) community when it was still a relatively new concept. FI is quickly gaining traction with young professionals who are tired of the American grind and financial distress. Coming of age and building careers during multiple economic recessions, a politically and economically polarizing pandemic, and increasing threats to the stability of our Social Security system, young American professionals are now realizing that they have to be proactive and take control of their financial futures.

 

I am here to help. I provide the financial planning expertise and tools to relieve stress around money, guide you towards achieving your goals, and set you up for long-term financial security, success and, ultimately, freedom.

Fun Facts

• Sebastian and I are avid national park adventurers. We have been to 13 parks to-date, and aim for a few visits and one new park each year with our America the Beautiful pass. 

• I lived in Madrid for two years, the first for graduate school and the second to teach English and travel. That second year, my second home was in a plane, train or bus as I visited 22 new European and North African cities.

• When I'm not nerding out on financial planning, I spend my time boxing and kickboxing, playing volleyball, researching travel deals, picnicking with my partner in the San Diego sunshine, and reading good books with my cats by my side.
